A LITTLE CLARITY

Privacy policy

Your reading is personal. Here’s what stays with you, what our services process, and the choices you have.

Effective and last updated · asteriskai inc

No account is required. Liked verses and reading history stay on your device. The iOS app sends usage analytics automatically, including search text and reading time, and a study-note report goes to PostHog only when you send it. This website asks before it measures visits. Ads, purchases, and downloads have their own data practices, explained below.

Who we are and what this covers

asteriskai inc (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides Versomi. This policy explains how information is handled in the Versomi iOS app and on this website. We are responsible for personal information we process to provide these services.

For privacy questions and requests, email support@asteriskai.net. Versomi does not require an account. That does not mean the app has no data processing: the services described below may receive information when they are enabled or used.

What stays on your device

Included Scripture is bundled with the app, and Bible editions and study notes you download are stored on your device. Reading, reference and word searches, Listen, and liked verses work on your device. Versomi keeps these on your device: liked verses, reading history (the days you read and the verses you reached), reading time, daily goal and streak, Bible edition, appearance, font, text size, onboarding status, and your reminder, widget, and download settings.

We do not maintain a cloud copy of your liked verses, a reading history, a streak, a daily reading total, or a saved feed position. Your operating system’s backup service may include local app data under your device settings and its own privacy terms. Recovery after deleting or reinstalling the app is not guaranteed.

Optional reminders are scheduled locally after notification permission. We do not operate a push-notification server for them. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read the verse and theme they show from storage that Versomi shares with its widgets on your device. Listen reads verses aloud with your device’s built-in speech voice, on the device. When you use Share, your device sends the content you choose to the app or recipient you select, whose privacy practices then apply.

Usage, subscription, and acquisition analytics

When configured, the iOS app automatically sends limited product events through Twilio Segment to Mixpanel from launch. These help us understand feature use, fix problems, and improve the app. There is no in-app usage-analytics opt-in prompt or off switch in the current iOS version.

Events describe actions such as opening the app, visiting screens, using search, liking or sharing, changing appearance, and purchase, restore, or ad outcomes. They may include an anonymous app identifier, event time, app and operating-system details, device context, and ordinary network metadata. “Anonymous identifier” means an identifier without your name; these events are not necessarily anonymous personal data. The configured iOS app uses RevenueCat’s anonymous app-user ID for Segment, allowing usage and subscription events to be associated.

RevenueCat sends subscription lifecycle events directly through Segment to Mixpanel, separately from app usage events. They can include the anonymous app identifier, subscription product and status, event time, billing amount and currency, and available acquisition attributes. This route does not depend on a usage-analytics consent setting. Billing analytics are separate from the processing needed to validate and restore your purchase.

On eligible production iOS installations, the app automatically requests Apple Ads attribution through Apple’s AdServices. It retains validated campaign, ad-group, ad, and keyword IDs, when available, for acquisition measurement and RevenueCat customer attributes. It does not retain or send attribution tokens, raw responses, engagement timestamps, or geographic fields to analytics. Google’s paid-impression callbacks can also supply ad revenue, currency, precision, placement, and test/production context to Segment and Mixpanel. These processes do not request the IDFA or use the words you read to target ads.

These events can include the text of searches you complete (up to 256 characters) and how many results they returned; how long you read and whether you reached your daily goal; streak and goal milestones; how many verses you have liked, but not which ones; the times, days, and time zone of reminders you set; the Bible edition and content language you are reading; the Bible editions and study books you download, with their size, duration, and result; paywall views and the plans and offers shown; and sharing choices and outcomes. Each event also carries your device model, iOS version, app version, app language, and region settings. Events do not include the Scripture text you read, your search results, which verses you liked, the people you share with, or what study notes say.

Study note reports. If you report a problem with a study note and tap Send report, Versomi sends the report to PostHog. It includes the issue you chose, the details you typed, the verse, book, and Bible edition, the study language and version, a report ID, and the same anonymous app identifier used for analytics. Nothing is sent until you tap Send report. Please don’t include personal information in your details. We use reports to correct study notes. See PostHog’s privacy policy.

To ask about access, deletion, objection, or other applicable privacy rights, contact us at support@asteriskai.net. Removing the app stops new app-generated events on that device but does not erase previously delivered information, cancel a subscription, or stop server-side events associated with that subscription.

Ads and advertising choices

The free app can show Google AdMob advertisements. We request non-personalized ads and use Google’s User Messaging Platform for applicable consent and privacy choices. We do not send Scripture, selected topics, search terms, or liked verses to target ads. The iOS app does not request access to Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA).

Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Google’s advertising and consent services may process IP addresses and approximate location derived from them, app or device identifiers permitted by your settings, ad views and interactions, consent choices, and diagnostic or performance information. This supports ad delivery, frequency controls, fraud prevention, and measurement. Ads are requested only after the app’s configuration and consent checks allow them.

Google’s consent messages provide applicable advertising choices. Available options depend on your region and Google’s consent requirements. Contact us about exercising advertising-related privacy rights. Usage analytics and advertising consent are separate. Plus removes in-app advertisements while your subscription is active.

See Google’s privacy policy and Google’s Mobile Ads data disclosure.

Subscriptions and purchases

If subscription services are configured, RevenueCat and Apple process information needed to provide available plans, validate purchases, restore purchases, manage entitlement to Plus, and help prevent fraud. This can include an anonymous app user ID, product and transaction identifiers, receipt or purchase history, subscription status, app and device metadata, and available acquisition attributes. The purchase service can initialize before you buy.

Apple handles payment through your App Store account. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Subscription processing is separate from product analytics and may be necessary to deliver or restore your purchase. Billing records can remain after you uninstall the app.

See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.

Configuration, website, and support

App configuration. The app may fetch global ad-spacing settings from Mixpanel on launch or return to the foreground, generally once per calendar day. This request uses a shared configuration identifier, not your individual reading activity or install identifier. Mixpanel still receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address. This operational request is separate from usage analytics.

Downloads and update checks. The app downloads Bible editions, study notes, and a public list of app versions and available study notes from content.versomi.com, which Cloudflare hosts. These requests carry a key that is the same in every copy of the app; they do not include your reading activity or an identifier for you or your install. Cloudflare and network providers receive ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, the file requested, and the time. The app checks the version list when it opens, generally about once a day, decides on any update prompt on your device, and keeps a copy for offline use. Older app versions get the version list from versomi.com, which Vercel hosts. Analytics can record a download’s type, language, edition or book, size, duration, and result, and an update prompt you see or act on.

This website. With your permission, this site measures landing visits and preview or App Store button clicks through the existing Versomi iOS Segment source to Mixpanel. Events include a random website session identifier, event time, language, a validated Instagram or TikTok profile campaign when present, and button placement. They do not include Scripture, search text, or a link to your app identifier. A profile link redirect briefly uses a first-party cookie containing only the validated Instagram or TikTok source; the browser deletes it on page load and keeps the campaign in session storage. The random session identifier also stays in session storage; your analytics choice stays in local storage and can be changed using Website analytics choices in the footer. No analytics event is sent when you decline. The reading preview keeps its theme and likes only in page memory; they reset when the page is reloaded or left. The site has no advertising pixels or account form; the only attribution cookie is the temporary source-transfer cookie described above. Vercel hosts this website. Vercel and network providers may process IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, timestamps, and technical logs to deliver and secure the site.

Support. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, investigate issues, and handle requests. Please do not send payment-card details or sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

Why we process and share information

We process information to deliver the app and website, manage purchases, answer support requests, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and, with your choice where required, operate analytics and advertising.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the appropriate basis depends on the processing and your jurisdiction: performance of our agreement for requested services and purchases; legal obligations for required records; legitimate interests where permitted for proportionate product measurement, security, essential service configuration, and responding to inquiries; and consent where required for analytics or advertising processing. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. This policy does not replace any consent required by law.

We use Apple, RevenueCat, Google AdMob and UMP, Twilio Segment, Mixpanel, PostHog, Cloudflare, Vercel, and our email provider for the functions described here. We require service providers processing information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements, use it only for agreed purposes, and apply appropriate safeguards. Providers may also act independently for their own services under their privacy terms.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections and notice requirements. We do not sell your liked verses, search terms, or reading selections. Advertising-related processing may have a broader meaning under local privacy laws; use the applicable advertising controls or contact us about your rights.

Provider policies: Twilio / Segment, Mixpanel, PostHog, and Cloudflare.

Retention and deletion

Local data: liked verses remain until you remove them in the app or remove the app’s data. Device backups are managed separately in your operating-system settings. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.

Service data: we retain support messages, service logs, and analytics only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described above. The period depends on resolving the issue, maintaining security, the provider’s retention settings, and applicable legal requirements. Purchase records may need to remain for entitlement restoration, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. We then delete or de-identify information where feasible, subject to backup cycles and required retention. Study note reports are kept while we review and fix the note, then only as long as reasonably needed to spot recurring problems.

You can request access or deletion by emailing us. We may need limited information to verify your request and locate a record, especially because there is no named Versomi account. We will explain if we cannot identify a record or must retain certain information. We cannot remotely access or erase liked verses stored only on your device. Apple separately controls its own store and payment records.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain advertising uses; and complain to your local privacy regulator. These rights may be subject to lawful exceptions. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

To make a request, contact support@asteriskai.net with “Versomi privacy request” in the subject. An authorized agent may contact us where permitted by law, subject to appropriate authorization and verification.

You can remove liked verses, turn off reminders, revoke notification permission in iOS Settings, and manage your device backups. Advertising choices depend on the available consent messages. The current iOS app does not offer an analytics off switch; contact us to exercise applicable rights concerning service data. These requests do not require a Plus subscription.

International processing and security

Our providers may process information outside your province, state, or country, including in the United States. Privacy protections and lawful government-access rules can differ. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or other legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your data.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections for network services. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and backups protected.

Children and policy updates

Versomi is a general-audience service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which parental consent is required by applicable law without that consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.

We may update this policy as services or requirements change. The current policy and its effective date will appear here. We will provide additional notice or request new consent when a material change requires it.

We’re here to help.
