Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.1 John 2:15
He doesn’t mean the people God loves or the earth he made. He means the craving, the showing off and the pride that run so much of life. His reason comes two verses on: all of it is passing away.
Read it in context.
1 John 2
13I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father. 14I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 15Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. 16For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. 17The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever.
In other Bibles.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

About the verse of the day.
What is the Bible verse of the day today?
Today’s verse is 1 John 2:15: “Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.”
Is this the same verse as the Versomi app?
Yes. The website and the app read from the same list, so this is the verse on your widget and wallpaper. It changes at midnight where you are.
Can I read it in the King James or a Catholic Bible?
Versomi doesn’t carry the King James Version, but it has three revisions of it: the Webster Bible, the Revised Version and the American Standard Version. Catholic readers can use the Douay-Rheims.
How are the verses chosen?
Every date has one verse. The year covers a wide range of topics, with themed weeks around Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day.
